JEWEL OF THE MONTH - REGALIA NECKLACE
‘Regalia’ from the ‘Les Trésors de la Maharani’ collection

Jewellery has long been part of Indian heritage with most iconic known jewels belonging to Indian Royals. For many generations, Royals families acted as style icons and trendsetter. Even today some of the looks created by Royal princesses and brides act as point of reference to achieve same level of sophistication and admiration in the personal wedding trousseau. With exclusive access to couturier, global jewellery houses and highly skilled Indian craftsman, they were able to create custom-made looks to represent their rich taste, royal status, power and identity.
"The Regalia Necklace" by FK is one such piece from "Les Trésors de la Maharani" collection. Set with emerald, diamond and south sea pearl in 18kt gold. Crafted to perfection, it conjures up a vision of splendour and magnificence. Rare and exotic gems were not solely for flaunting wealth, they also symbolised power, authority and status in society. The extensive use of 'Emeralds' could be traced back to royal archives and hence incorporated in this necklace to embody the sentiment of a royal gharana.
An extrapolation from "Farah Khan- A bejewelled life"
"India’s maharanis have long been ambassadors for a regal brand of femininity. I’ve always admired their entirely original style, the effortless elegance of those chiffon saris, the swan-like grace of slender necks accentuated by strings of glowing pearls, the supreme confidence of their bearing. When I’m designing statement pieces, I channel the impeccable style of divas like Maharani Gayatri Devi, Rani Sita Devi, Maharani Padmini Devi, and of course, Begum Sahiba Dürrüşehvar Sultan''
